Anna Paulowna, de prinses van Oranje, ontvangt Alexander II, grootvorst en troonopvolger van Rusland, in het Czaar Peterhuisje te Zaandam, 17 april 1839. De prinses presenteert de grootvorst een blad waarop brood (in tulbandvorm) en zout in een zoutvat, een bekend Russisch welkomstritueel. Aanwezig zijn (van links naar rechts): prins Willem Alexander Frederik (Alexander) van Oranje-Nassau, prins Willem Frederik Hendrik (Hendrik) van Oranje-Nassau, Elisa Martha, gravin van Limburg Stirum, Sophia Wilhelmina Petronella, gravin van Wassenaar, prins Willem (III) van Oranje-Nassau, Dieuwke Fontein, haar echtgenoot Adriaan van der Hoop, prins Willem Frederik Karel (Frederik) der Nederlanden, prinses Anna Paulowna van Rusland, prinses Louisa van Pruisen, prins Willem II van Oranje-Nassau, Alexander II van Rusland, zijn aide-de-camp Graaf Orloff en tussen de figuren bij de deur Baron d'Ivoy en Baron Mackay.
