About Us
Arte.Net was born from decades of friendship, travel, and a shared love for vintage imagery. It all began in 1954, when Terence Flynn founded Portal Publications, one of America’s most beloved poster houses. His early works—from Spanish bullfighting posters to iconic travel prints—inspired a global passion for wall art. Years later, his path crossed with mine, Richard Weedn, son of Jack and Flavia Weedn, two lifelong art publishers and dreamers. Together, we carried forward a legacy of creativity, collaboration, and adventure that spanned continents, from California to Madrid, from New York to the Swiss Alps.
The idea that would eventually become the Arte.Net platform first took shape during a "Motogiro" motorcycle race along the Adriatic coast of Italy in 1999. What began as a conversation between two art publishers turned into the creation of the largest archive of vintage poster imagery for fine-art reproduction. That shared spark carried us from Italy to New York City, California, Spain, Wyoming, France and finally Switzerland, connecting decades of art, travel, and friendship along the way.

We believe art should travel... across time, borders, and generations. Our world is built on curiosity, craftsmanship, and the joy of rediscovery. Every image we restore carries a story: a forgotten poster, a museum treasure, a photograph reborn through color and care. We work closely with archives like The New York Public Library,The Ford Motor Company Archive, Carroll Shelby Archive and The Henry Ford Museums, breathing new life into the imagery we love.
Over the years we have learned a great deal about copyright law and the DMCA rules of the United States.
Our physical archive and servers are permanently housed in Switzerland and managed by ArteNet GmbH, ensuring the preservation and security of our collection. What started as a shared vision has become one of the largest licensed archives of vintage poster and museum art in the world, a tribute to the collectors, travelers, and artists who came before us.
In early 2026 we understood that all over the world artists are subjected to unfair abuse by the DMCA laws of the United States. We have expanded our mission to allow artists from around the world to join our Swiss based platform. Swiss law requires legal action not an anonymous form emailed to a USA platform. We thus offer our art platform and services to artists and archive owners globally. We use only servers in Switzerland, only payment gateways in Switzerland.
ArteNet GmbH is a founding member of The Artists Guild, a Swiss non profit artists association which was founded in 2014.
Richard Weedn LLC and Archivea Inc. of Alpine, Wyoming are also founding members of our association.
We keep the international flame of our founders—Terence Michael Flynn (1927–2019) and Jack Robert Weedn (1925–2013)—two U.S. Navy sailors whose spirits still guide us.
We hope our work brings you joy and success in a world that is often tilted toward big companies and away from individual artists.— Richard Weedn, Co-Founder
With over $2 million invested in restoration and research, our mission remains simple: to share the beauty of art and history with the world. Every print, every collection, is a labor of love, the result of three lifetimes and three generations dedicated to preserving and celebrating art.
