To give the \u003cspan class=\"text-link\" onclick=\"javascript:link(84, 556, event);\"\u003ecomposition\u003c\/span\u003e even more immediacy, he cropped the figures on the left side. He added the shadows and contours in red chalk and freely applied thick, white gouache to create \u003cspan class=\"text-link\" onclick=\"javascript:link(84, 924, event);\"\u003ehighlights\u003c\/span\u003e.
